New Members HiiL Supervisory Board and Programmatic Steering Board

During its December meeting, the Supervisory Board approved a number of changes in the membership of its own Board as well as of the Programmatic Steering Board.

Due to other responsibilities which did not longer make it feasible to stay on the Supervisory Board, Eric van Damme stepped down as member after being involved with HiiL from the very start of the institute’s existence. The Chair praised the hard work, dedication and interest that Eric van Damme had shown over the years. At the suggestion of Eric van Damme, Thorsten Beck of Tilburg University had been approached and he had indicated a willingness to join the Board as Eric van Damme’s successor.

The Programmatic Steering Board also welcomes a new member. As of 2010, Deirdre Curtin, receiver of the Spinoza Prize in 2007, will be advising and supporting HiiL on substantive issues.

In addition, the reappointment of Emmanuel Lazega, Ewoud Hondius, and Dieter Grimm as members of the Programmatic Steering Board for a new term was gladly supported by the Supervisory Board.

HiiL is extremely proud to welcome such distinguished academics to the Boards. It is confident that the substantial experience and knowledge of the interplay of law and globalisation that the members bring with them, will enable HiiL to continue to develop top level research.
