« Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast »

Armi Dunder is a Justice Sector Advisor at HiiL, where she plays a crucial role in the organization’s efforts to realise people-centred justice globally. Her journey with HiiL has been diverse: She started by working in the Measuring Justice team, where she contributed to research methodologies, reports and policy briefs. At the moment, she is part of the Justice Transformation team, contributing to HiiL’s stakeholder engagement and dialogues. Over time, she has contributed directly to country programmes in Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Ukraine, and the MENA region. Additionally, she takes charge of coordinating the Justice Leaders Foundation and the Justice Transformation practice within HiiL, where she collaborates with colleagues to refine the organization’s methodologies.

Armi holds two Master’s degrees, in Social and Public Policy from the University of Jyväskylä and International Crimes, Conflict, and Criminology from VU Amsterdam. Her professional journey began in civil society organizations and research, and now she’s passionate about applying evidence-based strategies to policymaking. Armi’s fascination lies in finding fresh ideas to improve people-centred approaches to sustainable development. She sees the justice sector as a vital part of society that promotes peace, new opportunities, and inclusivity, leaving no one behind.

Beyond her professional endeavours, Armi regularly hits the gym for a powerlifting session. When she’s not lifting weights, you might find her on stage performing with her choir or exploring vegan restaurants in The Hague.
